It's a method for raising sunken concrete without tearing it out. We drill small ports about ⅝ inch across, inject high-density polyurethane foam underneath the slab, and the foam expands to fill the empty voids and lift the slab back toward its original position. Then we patch the small holes so they blend in.
It comes down to the material and the holes. Mudjacking pumps a cement-and-soil slurry weighing roughly 100 lbs per cubic foot through holes about 1⅝ inches wide, and that heavy fill can wash out or re-settle over time. Our polyurethane foam weighs only about 2 lbs per cubic foot, goes in through ⅝-inch ports, and won't add stress to the soil underneath. Beehive installs foam only.
"Leveling" is just what most people call it when they search online. What we actually do is lift and stabilize the slab back toward where it started — to within about ⅛ inch where conditions allow. We're raising and supporting concrete, not promising a perfectly flat surface.

Foam lifting works for slabs that have settled but are still structurally sound. If the concrete is badly crumbling, severely cracked into many pieces, or spalling apart, lifting won't restore it and replacement makes more sense.
